If this wasn’t California, I might somewhat agree with your statement. These people aren’t going anywhere, because the California coast is obscenely beautiful. Some might leave, but the majority will stay since the tax will end up just being a tiny inconvenience for their level of wealth.
I live in a red state and have met tons of people they left California tor tax purposes. I guarantee the state will lose money from doing this.
California loses more people each year than live in the entire state of Wyoming, and that’s normal. If you know people that moved states for lower taxes, then I doubt they are billionaires. Why are you, someone who lives outside of California, so invested in a proposed law for a place you don’t live? I don’t live there either, but I don’t care about where billionaires live. I’m just pointing out that it’s mostly empty threats. Remember when Mamdani passed a tax on secondary residences and people threatened to leave? Guess what happened.
I think people on here like to shit all over Newsom for BS reasons. This headline is a great example. He’s against a statewide wealth tax, which makes sense for the reasons I gave. We can agree to disagree, that’s fine.
But has he come on against nationwide wealth tax? I don’t think so. I don’t honestly know what he stands for (which is a legitimate complaint).
He hosted Ben Shapiro on his podcast. That alone tells you everything you need to know about him.
He didn’t support Ben Shapiro. I’ve listened to all his controversial podcast and found them very enlightening. I would rather listen to a Democrat interview these people that suck than listen to them on Joe Rogan, or anything like that.
Covering your eyes and ears to these people is exactly how we got 4 more years of Trump.
Nope normalizing these people is how we got four more years of Trump jfc.
Problem with your perspective is you assume these people aren’t already normalized. Newsom began his podcast for basically this reason (after Trump got elected btw).
Most people on the left don’t know who these people are and how big of an impact they are already making. You might want to close your eyes and pretend it isn’t happening, but I appreciate having this as a way to hear these people without having to follow right wing sources that just blindly agree and give no real challenge.
Well, you can entertain white nationalist Nazi genocidal maniacs but I’m good. Deplatforming this shit is paramount because of the paradox of intolerance.
And you can pretend that deplatforming is a thing that exists in 2026. And when JD wins in 2028, you can be shocked that all the people you deplatformed were defining the election in right wing circles.
Man, it’s almost like you were born after 2016. And Vance is not Trump.
If you want to give people like Ben Shapiro and Nick Fuentes and Charlie Kirk views and both sides this shit I have nothing else to say to you. I’ve seen enough now to know that when you let one Nazi into a bar the next thing you know the bar is full of Nazis and pretending like there is some merit to debating or listening to these psychos is objectively harmful.
Nobody is “both side”-ing shit. You’re choosing to be ignorant of the impact these shitty people are having on our society. Personally, I want to know what the opposition believes. If I listen to them on one of the million right wing platforms that exist (and are wildly popular), I’m going to get all bullshit.
Listening to them on Newsom’s podcast I am able to hear their opinion without him letting them go all in on their bullshit. He doesn’t push back as much as I would like, but he in no way endorses their views or encourages them even. I had no idea who Kirk was when I listened to that interview and absolutely hated him by the end. It got the job done.
Keep in mind, Newsom’s podcast came AFTER Trump’s 2 win. It was a response to Dems burying their heads in the sand (just like you) and pretending these people don’t exist.
I’d rather listen to behind the bastards than newsome thank you very much. And newsome can get fucked.
Keep on voting that centrist line. You’re part of the problem too buddy.
To each their own
Spend 5 minutes looking at my posts and you’d realize you have no idea what you’re talking about. But that’s part of the problem with people like you. Judge first, listen second. Keep that head in the sand and you might see something you like.
You are the one who has been judging me first throughout this entire conversation. And your banal ill informed nonsense is completely useless. I don’t care enough about you to look at your posts. And honestly I’m kicking myself for spending this much time talking to you. You didn’t know shit all about me at the start of this and you still know nothing about me our the state of politics in the U.S. I hope your day is as irritating as this conversation has been.
