I think a lot of people want to get off reddit, but these alternative communities still need time to grow. Hope that day comes soon.

Nope.

As soon as these niche communities get as big as reddit's, everything else will be as big as reddit and you'll see all the same unbearable asshole mob behavior as on reddit.

You can choose:

a) a small community that is more supportive and friendly BUT does not have a plethroa of niche interests

or

b) a large community that has a plethora of niche interests but has asshole mob behavior

You can't have a large, supportive and friendly community with many niche interests.

Case in point: I am here because I went through my main feed hot and new and am now doing local new because I'm bored.

Logitech G305, no complaints.

As someone happy with the G305, my entire worldview is suspect. I understand.

I am disappointed in myself sometimes, too.
