Hello new Lemmy friends!
Word on the street tells us our community is regularly making it the all page. While this is very cool news to hear, we can see how the sudden emergence of our posts in your feed might feel jarring and probably raises some questions. And also how, without knowing the backstory, our community might appear less than virtuous, so here’s a very brief introduction which hopefully will clear a few things up.
The woman we’re discussing is a body positive influencer and media personality who has gained fame and wealth by lying, manipulating, exploiting her children for content, plagiarizing BIPOC creators and blaming her BIPOC content editor for it (thereby ruining her career), among other things. Her fraudulent behavior is no different (I’d argue worse) from the likes of Jay Shetty (google him if you don’t know who he is or what he did). She’s the latest in a long line of grifting influencers who are abusing their power, taking advantage of their position and exploiting their followers. The difference is that she’s Canadian. Our laws around social media and advertising aren’t as clear (and where they are she’s disobeyed them), add to that, our mainstream media has protected her from those who’ve tried to expose her grift and silenced/intimidated anyone who’s tried to speak out.
Our Reddit sub was taken down due to reports of copyright infringement, which is unfounded and categorically untrue as no one ever tried to steal her work and pass it off as their own. The mods have made an appeal. While at first glance it may seem like we’re just “shitting on her” the sub has been more devoted to investigation and posting proof of her lies than just bitching for the sake of bitching. The reality is that she’s hurt, manipulated and let down a lot of people. She stole intellectual property and employment, caused mental distress and has repeatedly told lies to boost engagement and profit off her audience, so people are understandably upset that their voices are being silenced.

Same here. I was convinced she would. Maybe she got told it wasn’t a good idea by her lawyers in the divorce. It probably killed her.
The summer isn’t over yet. Toronto Pride is celebrated in June but, elsewhere, the festivities carry on until the end of August. The clock is ticking. Does she first reveal her change in sexual identity or just spill all the tea at once.
She's not saying anything because people are talking about her cheating on Shane and what she did to Meredith. She can't be the victim this time because of Meredith. I can't even imagine the mental games they are playing with M and the weird accounts that are most likely harassing her to keep quiet. I hope a newspaper runs the story. It would have to be the Sun; they have gossip. They are back in Halifax; maybe Frank Magazine will get the party started.
Sarah and her mob will paint Shane as some sort of abuser. M, they can't touch. Another factor is that M is younger and much prettier; she's kind, sweet, and supportive of her friends. C isn't likeable. Sarah IRL isn't a deer in the headlights. M will become the audience's favourite. M could easily turn this into a game and win.
I really hope M gets something good from all of this. I think you’re right about trying to paint Shane as an abuser since it worked so well the first time around with husband #1. I don’t know if he will sit back and take it. His work is manipulating algorithms so, maybe, that is how he gets his revenge. It would be poetic justice if the man behind the sudden rise in followers also viral videos makes it all go away. He plants some more pay to play stories where her real followers find it and sits back to watch the show. I wonder if he’s stumbled across the crowsbanana?
But if he makes it go away he can’t benefit from it . You don’t think she has to pay him out for all the things? If he makes it go away what does he get then?
He gets no benefit from her earnings post separation in the division of property and wealth. I guess he could use any increase in her income for increased child support but I think taking away the thing she loves the most, her platform, would be much more satisfying.
I think M should tell her story. Not let birdshit make up some bullshit this time.

I think Shame and M need to come out with the truth first, or Bird will spin it so they're the ones in the bad light.

Unpopular opinion, but Shame is actually a good guy.
I think he could be, if he speaks up to explain how Sarah manipulated her numbers. Then he's cool; till then, no. I think she manipulated him 100%, but he needs to come clean. He played a part in people losing their jobs. Deep down inside, he knows this. Fix it, Shane.
