That is Thor a while ago, when I was a much worse and more irresponsible bird owner. She had indeed been sick, because the cage was a mess, and I had fed them rather badly. I've been doing better lately, but, well, not enough, it looks like.
so you were and probably still are abusing animals via neglect. find loki a better home with someone who gives a shit.
Man this is just about the most tactless way to say this. Jesus christ, if you're this socially maladapted then just stick to saying positive things so at least you don't drive someone to suicide. Goddamn.
Animals are innocent. @doomchappel666@lemmy.zip is 100% spot on.
No sympathy for this shit.
My point is that it's not a convincing argument. If the point is to vent and just scream agreeable facts at the sky then A+. "What a fuck fucking piece of fucking filth" is refreshing to say but it's not in any way useful unless you genuinely think that OP thinks animal abuse is good and they're being informed. Emotional outbursts to things have never really been valuable additions to conversations. At all. Getting angry will usually just cement people into their particular lane. Nobody is asking for sympathy but if we were trying to assess goals and impact here this has somewhere between negative at worst and zero at best.
If changing things is your goal then this is the wrong route but otherwise by all means grab your pitchfork?
For animals, I always do. We need to put our pets above ourselves. They don't have a choice. And I don't think there is a good excuse for this.
On top of that, because of some latent guilt, OP decided to post it in this community as if it's some sort of laughable situation. It's not. At any level.
So, again, fuck this sort of behavior. No quarter.
Cool. We all agreed it's awful shit. Morally you are correct. I'd like to think you would have more interest in working the root problem and making the thing that upsets you better rather than just making yourself feel better via venting. But yeah. "No quarter no sympathy, hurrah!" or whatever.
Short rant but you see this everywhere. It feels like the root of so many issues and maybe a symptom of an unwillingness to focus and a need to move on to the next outrage. It feels so nice to have something thought-terminating and easy instead of suffering through a resolution-oriented mindset but that just leaves the problem where it is. It's like everyone wants to be just invested enough to be angry but not so invested they have to put any effort or additional thought in.
But why fix the problem when we can just jail it or shoot it right, officer?
Yep.
Fuck off with this shit! This person is grieving a loss and you think it’s appropriate to insult them?
Something is seriously wrong with you. Get a grip!
They clearly died of neglect based on the evidence of what OP wrote. I would still approach this with caution and be respectful without calling them out for their abuse of an animal. Cockatiels are very fragile animals and can even die of heartbreak if the owner changes. OP admitting to neglect says something about their character.
My main gripe is: if you cannot take care of an animal properly to the point where one dies, (the other bird might have died for other reasons than neglect but OP mentioned they were neglectful so I assume that is why the other bird died.) then you should give the bird to a shelter or find an owner. I cannot speak for every shelter but the one near me, a humane society, has birds on their desk that someone donated and they get top care and donations all the time from various sources. Based on this picture, the other bird is suffering and should be taken care of better. The cages need to be cleaned every one to two days, and it's feathers are also in bad condition.
I am by no means talking down to OP just showing concern for an animal in need. I hate to see animals suffer.
If abusers aren't called on their shit, they don't learn.
Animals are innocent and were victims here. No quarter.
... Does "calling someone on their shit" cause abusers to learn?
I quite agree.
