So that's way they needed TPM as a requirement...
Always was.
People just kept parroting the bullshit "it's not DRM, bro. You'll need for things like to use banking websites" propaganda so much, that it got drowned out. Cheers to microslop's astroturfibg efforts for that.
I remember the banking excuse ... and now that I think about it I don't know of any financial or public-government sites that used/demanded the TPM chip for windows.
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for mobile. I mean no, there's no TPM chip, but there's stuff like Play Integrity which is required and even worse.
There's a few websites now that support WebAuthn which Windows Hello (requiring a TPM) should support.
For example, the Australian passports.gov.au defaults to "passkeys" and makes it clear they're "recommend", my.gov.au also supports passkeys but prefers their mobile app. I just use a Yubikey (+ Linux) though, and it's always optional anyway. Though I also don't know of any banks using WebAuthn.
The TPM is legitimately useful outside of DRM, but it's absolutely mostly for DRM.
We always knew this was their game.
