Not quite your question but similar.

I met my significant other in a discord for our mutual profession. We became quick besties after he sent me a DM to make fun of something I said. I was married at the time, going through some shit, wasn't looking, we never crossed a line we were legit best friends.

My marriage was more of a roommate situation, we just had not acknowledged it yet. Again, I didn't have feelings for this guy (well at this stage 2 years into this friendship I probably did and just didn't know it yet). He starts talking about his life dreams and what he wants. I tell him that sounds amazing, I wish I could do that. He asks why I don't, I tell him my husband has made it clear he never wants to mice from the town we live in. He kinda gives me a pause and a "that sucks" and continues on.

It hit me like a train. "Why am I with someone who doesn't want the same things as me?" I was already on my way home from work when this conversation happened so I went home and told him I wasn't happy and all the things I felt I needed. We took a week apart to think about stuff. We came back together, had a great conversation about how we couldn't meet each other's needs and decided on divorce. I never thought that conversation would include as many laughs at it did. We lived together for a year and a half after that because we're still besties.

Shortly after this my current significant other and I admitted we had feelings for each other and he drove 16 hours to meet me to see if we clicked in person. The chemistry was insane. We long distance dated for a year and a half and I just moved in with him 6 months ago and we're having a good time.

To answer the original question though, the first date included a racecar, unexpected amazing sex, dinner, and a lot of snuggling. Best date ever. Still gotta get him to drive that racecar next time we visit my home lol.

And yes my ex and I still talk daily and send pics of the animals each of us got and he's very happy in his new relationship as well. Seriously, couldn't have asked for a better person to spend 15 years with.

We both sometimes look at each other and go, how the fuck did this happen? 🤣
