/c/TenForward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. Use spoiler tags in comments, and NSFW checkbox for posts.
This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

I, too, thoroughly enjoy it.

The fact that it started in the past, but not quite "enterprise" levels of "in the past" and ended up in the far future was one of the things that really kept mw interested. The fact that the federation can even still BE the federation 800-ish years on (albeit partially due to interference from the past) is fascinating stuff.

Starfleet academy did some amazing stuff with the klingon diaspora and with the federation in general as well, to say nothing of the great sci-fi themes throughout it.

I'm honestly really loving everything we're getting for new trek television.

The crying space baby ruined the overall story arc for me. I know it's sci-fi, I know it requires suspension of disbelief. I just could not suspend enough disbelief. That the universe could be that fragile and so many well understood laws of physics could be broken simultaneously without any understanding for decades...but the millennium out-of-date-ship could solve the mystery in weeks was just too much for me

I have been trying to make my way up to them getting tossed into the future, but had no plans on continuing to watch past that, primarily for one reason: the clips I have seen don't show enough progress for being so far into the future.

Sure, things stagnate a bit because space baby cried too hard, but look how far we have come in the last 300 years, see how far we get in Trek in the next 300 years.... And you're telling me things just look a little fancier? The complex tech should be completely unrecognizable to anyone in the 2400s, let alone 2200s.

The scale of the ship also has just kept bugging me. So much empty space. So much complex tech that made no sense in the timeline. Even if you consider it's in an alternate timeline from the one I grew up with, it still makes no sense.

I think if they firmly established it's in an alternate timeline, maybe by referencing a historic event that we know went a different way in the prime timeline or something, they set it in the 2400s, and the time skip forward were a few hundred years closer, it would make things a lot more watchable.

<season 1 or 2 spoilers>Also entirely fuck them for killing half my favorite character combo. I know he comes back later, but it's not the same.
