The Board of Trustees (BoT) has been silent as a Board about the recent voluntary union recognition requests by WMF staff in the US and the UK staff (via its employer of record). The CEO has declined voluntary recognition in both cases. The Board of Trustees should instruct the CEO to voluntarily recognize the union without delay and begin bargaining in good faith.

In 2021, the BoT ratified the Wikimedia Human Rights Policy, including the en:Universal Declaration of Human Rights, of which section 23 includes the freedom to join unions.
