Never had Indian food ๐คฏ
Some of us out here are raised in spiceless white families. I was like 16 when I had cumin for the first time, i still remember where and when I was it was so mind blowing. My mom doesnt even use black pepper :') paprika is "too spicy"
That username is so incredibly perfect in light of this, lmfao, well chosen! ๐
Hey, it just straight up doesn't exist in the Midwest outside of major cities, and then you've got so many options that are similar to what youve had, but not wildly different that it's hard to choose. I was probably close to 30 before I tried Indian food.
What do you mean? Midwest of where? Are you in America maybe?
Just buy ingredients and make some Indian food to try?
"just buy all the stuff for a woodworking shop if you're interested in woodworking but never done it before."
Exotic spices are too expensive to buy if you've never tried it, just to throw em away if you don't like them. Then you insult people for not doing it. That's absurd. And you know damn well the Midwest is a region in America. I'm not a fan of US exceptionalism either but we both know it exists, and that if you speak English and are on an aggregate site on the Internet you know where it is. I've never been to Germany or france but I know where reinland is.
Yo, south central Kansas here. Take a look for don't buy at big box stores, next time you're anywhere with a population of +10k look for Asian markets or Hispanic markets, if you're extra lucky you may find middleastern or Indian grocers. You can get all the stuff you from one of those for comparable prices to most big stores. I buy everything but garlic there now because it's cheaper and often stronger.
I personally suggest starting with the snack isle, look for the the Dragonfly brand chips and take a gamble on any of the fat cakes. After that, give yellow or massaman curry a try. It's Thai, not Indian, but it has a similar profile. Shoot me a DM and I'll give you a recipe and literally walk you through making it if you need.
I'm a strong supporter of the value of American culinary culture, we do actually have some amazing recipes, but we've all been absolutely shafted by the ubiquity of it. Everyone deserves a chance to experience the madcap world that is food.
Damn, you got aggressive real fast. Never mind then.
"Spices too expensive." Definitely sounds like America. My condolences.
I replied initially positively, then you came back snarky a belittling, so yeah I got "aggressive" because you earned it.
You think I was belittling when I said you can just "make food"? Okay. I'm gonna say that one is on you. Feeling pretty innocent on that one. ๐๐
Snarky as well, wtf? Talk about reading too much into things and filling in your own baggage between the lines.
Peace out, bruv. Take care of yourself, okay? โ๏ธ
Belittling was the part where you pretended you didn't know what the Midwest was referring to.
"Pretended". Kay. Who is belittling when you say I must belittling you rather than the possibility that I don't know which midwest you mean.
I did suggest America, did I not? Did I not?! ๐ค๐ค
I get a kick out of arguments on anonymous social media lol. Why do people feel the need to defend themselves? Why not just let's someone have that last word. My dad always used to call it 'lastworditis'.
Let's see if you're the same way, shall we?
