ADHD kids and also adults I guess can sometimes be a bit much for normies especially when we get excited. I know I do. Sometimes I even hyper fixate on a person for a while. I learned this by alienating a lot of friends over the years. It hurts a ton to be rejected so often especially as a kid and teen.

I'd love to be able to help my children to learn this in a leas painful way. But at the same time I don't want to teach them that they are in some way "wrong". I don't want them to feel like being themselves is bad. At the same time I know it can be hard on others when my kids are so overbearing as I tended to be myself.

Any ideas, thoughts and opinions appreciated.

Maybe start by focusing on exercises to help them build better emotional self awareness. My SO and I both have ADHD. So we try to make a habit of taking the time to "check in". We both take a moment to examine how we feel and clearly communicate our status to the other person. Making that a daily practice with your kids would be a really good first step.
