Ok as a lesbian I just want to say that this is not a Lollapalooza specific thing, this kind of thing is not uncommon.

i know! It's so disrespectful that these places get so much attention, but there are so many! Let's list all the places that gather this outrageous attention!

Renaissance festivals usually have a very lively adults only section in the primitive camping area.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Your renaissance festival has camping? The one in my area is more like a theme park than a LARP.

Dame here. It kind of sucks and isn't worth going to more than a couple of times unless you have a giant wad of cash burning a hole in your wallet. They have permanent buildings and all of the acts and shops are the same every year.

[–] UndulyUnruly@lemmy.world 14 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Dame here.

Ah yes. Her Excellency, Dame lyrial.

[–] lyrial@anarchist.nexus 6 points 1 week ago

I am leaving this fortunate typo :p

[–] joelfromaus@aussie.zone 3 points 1 week ago

Damn right! And don’t you forget it!

I used to go to one of those. It has a lot going for it in terms of live acts, but basically it's always the same. I stopped once I realized I was paying for the privilege of attending a Medieval Times themed shopping mall.

Parsley sage rosemary and thyme.

[–] schipelblorp@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago

They might be thinking more Society of Creative Anachronism [SCA], don't know what those guys are up to these days though.

[–] eestileib@sh.itjust.works 18 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Well typically it's a performance for other lesbians not straight guys so if you're in the scene you'll find out...

[–] Pudutr0n@lemmy.world 52 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Did you just assume my gender? cause... what gave it away? Was it the blatant disrespect for anything other than my own needs?

[–] AmidFuror@fedia.io 9 points 1 week ago

Gender stereotypes get upvotes when you're punching down.

Is it lesbian mud wrestling or is it sparkling same-sex sexy grappling? Trying to figure out if WWE is gay platform wrestling by the same definitions

[–] eestileib@sh.itjust.works 14 points 1 week ago

I know a lot of gay pro wrestling fans.

In sumo, Ichiyamamoto literally has a life sized poster of Wakatakakage in his bedroom (they're the same age).

[–] VitoRobles@lemmy.today 10 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Wait are you saying lesbians as a whole will just see a pile of mud and have a intrinsic urge to wrassle?

[–] eestileib@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I prefer being beaten with a stick by a beautiful girl, personally, but yes, many lesbian flirtation displays involve relatively stupid relatively low stakes violence.

Just like many straight courtship displays.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

Yeah the stupid, silly, and more adventurous flirtation is usually in certain types of space, but when I see it happening I feel so at home. Two girls making eyes at each other over a stupid feat of strength or toughness or whatever else gets me to let my guard down

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I mean kinda yeah at least enough of us do

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 week ago

It's like beavers when they hear running water and start collecting wood for a dam.

[–] DudeImMacGyver@piefed.social 3 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

It seems like a normal Lollapalooza thing tbh, I had no idea it wasn't!
