I love how they've tried to give them a shiny new name in the hope people will assume they're something different and magical?
The term "collaborative robots" or "cobots" conjures images of a humanoid robot working as part of the team.
Instead it sounds like they have a waldo with a camera on the end that is using Gen AI to look for faults.
They fired the staff because no one wants their shitty cars.
Cobots aren't new at all and you're right, its probably just a normal-looking robot arm with a machine vision system stuck on
Companies just have to make it sound like they're "doing AI"
The tech is probably a LOT simpler than that. Cobots have been a thing for a while. Plus Gen AI wouldn't be useful in them.
This is 100% because no one wants to buy their shitty cars. The dealership near me hasn't moved inventory in ages.
