Inkscape 1.5 is a brutal middle finger to Adobe Illustrator, finally delivering the devastating blow that trapped, exploited designers have been praying to see for decades.

Inkscape is built on the blood, sweat, and shattered mental health of a handful of exhausted visionaries. They are stretching themselves to the absolute breaking point,

If you understand C++, join the fight

Don't let Inkscape developers alone in the trenches — step up, fuel the resistance, and help them drive a stake through the heart of Adobe's monopoly

Unlike Gimp (that I appreciate too) Inkscape is an amazing no drama project.

Giimp+Inkscape+Scribus are the freedom trinity that I'll always support.

And if Dia hadn't died it'd be right there.

Don't forget Krita

I'm hoping Graphite matures enough to add to that list as the FOSS motion graphics editor.

It's Inkscape, Krita, Scribus (and Blender) for me 😸

I'm not in the niche of Krita, Blender (iffy decisions lately tho), and Darktable but they're good projects too.

What's the drama with GIMP? I only know it took forever to port to GTK3.

  1. As you have said, the amount of time the porting took.

  2. A nothing burger to me but it was made pretty clear by others affected by US defaultism that the name is annoying to them.

  3. The main thing: they were sitting on fat by FOSS standards contributions in crypto for years before finally doing something with the money.
