I do find this odd. I would never go back to Win10. I find Windows 11 far superior.

LOL. Operating systems aren't an ideology, they are a tool.
And some tools are objectively worse than others. Windows 11 loses to Windows 10 in every area except for AI integration (if you can call this a loss), and security updates (which Microsoft arbitrarily stopped to force people to switch).
If Windows 10 is a screwdriver, then Windows 11 is a butter knife glued to a 10 lb weight and a flock camera that Microsoft chained to your hand when they stole your toolbox.
I very much disagree on that, along with millions of others. The only advantage Win10 has over Win11 is familiarity, otherwise known as learning curve. Reliability, snap layouts, widgets, improved file explorer, plus a really awesome phone integration environment. Add on top of that constant updates and upgrades and it isn't even a close comparison.
LOL, no. Win 11 had 3 major update issues this year alone.
99% of people just used left and right, which was already in 10, and you could already access other layouts in 10, there was just a different interface for it.
You're fucking joking right? Widgets have been in windows since Vista, and no one liked them back then either.
Improved by turning it into an elecron app? Improved by drastically increasing the ram usage and hobbling the search performance? Improved by unpinning it from the taskbar? The new file explorer is fucking garbage, and is easily one of the dumbest and worst things about 11, right behind the new printer management UI.
You are genuinely the first person I've heard mention this, and you'll probably be the last.
See issue number 1, also, the updates only ended because Microsoft declined to continue supporting "the last version of Windows".
You are right that the comparison isn't even close. 8 and 7 were closer in terms of performance and market adoption than 11 and 10.

You’re just literally the only person I’ve ever heard say this, so I guess I’m skeptical.
I'm not really surprised, Lemmy is a huge hater of Windows. I am running Win11 on three supported systems, and 2 unsupported systems and I haven't had a bsod since upgrading.
My comment had nothing to do with Lemmy.
If this is the thing you think of as a way to talk it up, it’s worse than I thought.
I posted the benefits responding to another user.
Windows just works, the supported hardware base is unparalleled. It's been running my Plex server for 5+ years without incident. I have yet to find a hardware device that isn't compatible. It has touchscreen support. I like widgets, and yes I even use copilot from time to time.
It's has the majority marketshare. If you don't want to use it, then don't. But the facts are still the facts.
So widgets, touchscreen and copilot?
Everything else you said arguably applies more to win10.
