I conspiratorially see these articles as propaganda to sway surveillance unidirectionally into governmental hands.

We can't give people easy access to record police interactions, especially when they are upping methods of state violence like arming them with electronic shock gloves.

Better brand them as "pervert glasses" or try to associate them with pedophiles somehow so they get banned quickly.

(But also, Fuck Meta, and fuck dystopian hyper-invasion of privacy of all varieties)

The difference being that there is (theoretically) more citizen control when it comes to governments.

That's the biggest difference between government and corporations. Governments are (theoretically) responsible for every person that resides in their established territory. Corporations are responsible only for those they deem financially viable.
