Hard drives. I have a movie hobby and that takes a lot of storage and well, storage now is 3-5 times more expensive than not two years ago and I can't afford it anymore.

But on the flip side, people can now finally nudify my daughter, so that is totally worth it!

Fuck everything about AI.

Yeah I started on the path of "never buy storage used" to "f it we'll do it live with smartctl" because even decade old used server drives are triple in price.

It's so bad I'm genuinely looking at storage pool solutions like stratis which lets you mix and match drive sizes without reducing the total size.

I am waiting patiently for the AI bubble to pop so that all of a sudden there's an excess supply of ram, gpu's, drives, etc.

Hate to break it to you, but that's not at all how that will work out.

I just had to buy a replacement surveillance 8tb drive for my store, best price I could find was $380. I have to buy it, no option there. But shiiiit that sucked.

Having a spair emergency drive is a good strategy for these moments.

Not at these prices.
