There is a lot of history and present action like that. It's the mega churches that generally suck the most, and generally the wealthiest of churches. Most food banks in the US are run by Christian organizations if not directly by a church.

Here there are plenty of Christian organizations as well doing very good things, but in general the people most vocal about doing Christian things are not more about people following their rules than about doing something meaningful for people in need. Seeing the current regime embracing Christianity while also limiting food aid or killing people without a trial in international waters remind me more of the type that talk(!) about Christian values, than that it reminds me of the people who work at a food bank or a homeless shelter.

If you're talking about Trump, that makes sense, although despite the pseudo Christian cult around him, Trump is certainly not a Christian. He doesn't even understand Christianity which is clear from a number of his statements about it. No surprise there.
