My 1070 ti is still going strong. One my best purchases.

I am however considering an upgrade to a 1080 ti.

I would avoid that unless you get one basically for free. As others mentioned, official driver support is pretty much end of life and there possibly won't ever be proper unofficial support either for that generation.
