That is a perfectly reasonable way to deal with this issue that I never thought of.
Now I can shift my anxiety to how people will react if I tell them I'm autistic, but frankly, looking at the communities I tend to gravitate towards, odds are they're more likely to ask about my hyperfocus than take issue.

Shouldn't really be an issue. Especially amongst artists.
Sauce: am an artist. Have no issue with neuro spicy, I just need preferences on how you want to communicate/ask for requests, etc.
Stepson is on the spectrum, he hates when i ask him to take care of something and phrase it as a request as opposed to a command, so "little AngelFangs, you wanna load the dishwasher?" is out, while "yo, little AngelFangs, load the dishwasher, please." Is what he prefers.
While it's a challenge to help him move through a neuro-typical world without his autism contributing to a short circuit of behavior and action, I'm super proud of him. He doesn't tolerate injustice, is caring and interested in the people he cares about, plays a mean violin and guitar, and is growing into a decent, well educated and morally sound dude.
