Someone needs to sue asap because this definitely qualifies as cruel and unusual punishment.
It's insane, but courts have interpreted "cruel and unusual" to require the punishment to be BOTH cruel AND unusual to qualify, and if the punishment is being administered in all prisons, it can't possibly be considered "unusual", so it gets a pass.
Supreme Court: I'll allow it
they think GAC is deranged self harm so good luck making that argument.
