A place to share screenshots of Microblog posts, whether from Mastodon, tumblr, ~~Twitter~~ X, KBin, Threads or elsewhere.
Created as an evolution of White People Twitter and other tweet-capture subreddits.
RULES:
- Your post must be a screen capture of a microblog-type post that includes the UI of the site it came from, preferably also including the avatar and username of the original poster. Including relevant comments made to the original post is encouraged.
- Your post, included comments, or your title/comment should include some kind of commentary or remark on the subject of the screen capture. Your title must include at least one word relevant to your post.
- You are encouraged to provide a link back to the source of your screen capture in the body of your post.
- Current politics and news are allowed, but discouraged. There MUST be some kind of human commentary/reaction included (either by the original poster or you). Just news articles or headlines will be deleted.
- Doctored posts/images and AI are allowed, but discouraged. You MUST indicate this in your post (even if you didn't originally know). If an image is found to be fabricated or edited in any way and it is not properly labeled, it will be deleted.
- Absolutely no NSFL content.
- Be nice. Don't take anything personally. Take political debates to the appropriate communities. Take personal disagreements & arguments to private messages.
- No advertising, brand promotion, or guerrilla marketing.

I kinda hate it's still so strongly associated with the Nazis with no real attempt to reclaim it; it's one of humanity's oldest symbols, and they shouldn't have nice things
I mean give it a short time - 500 years or so - I'm sure it'll be forgotten.
No one really associates roses with the Tudors and Stuarts any more, the Trikelion and the Triquetra aren't sacred symbols any more, people use the Cadeceus when they mean the Asclepius staff, depending on context some enemies of France would've seen the Fleur de Lys as an offensive symbol...
We have fortunately gotten rid of many kings and removed the social basis of feudalism. However, Neo-Nazis persist today and seem likely to persist for a while longer. Their symbolism will remain known as such until the destruction of the basis of fascism.
Monarchists also persist unfortunately.

Somewhere out there are honest-to-god Bourbonists but they do not have a material basis to exist as a major force.
Russian and russophilic fash still fly the imperial banner (thus keeping its meaning in memory as a symbol) but they will never reinstate tsarist feudalism, only fascism. The conditions for tsarism simply no longer exist. The coat of arms of the House of Bourbon on the other hand has not been widely used by the modern French far right. Bourbonism as a movement no longer exists. Thus it does not symbolise the white terror anymore, while the imperial banner does.
Roman symbolism exists in an in-between state where it is not necessarily the domain of imperialist reactionaries but remains in use by them.
The strongest reactionary monarchist movements, and thus those whose symbols still hold weight, are in places which still have monarchs (e.g. Ulster traitors, neo-falanguists).
This only really proves my point that symbols retaining hateful meaning do so through active use by hateful movements and that it only really loses its connotations when the movement is symbolises ceases to exist in a meaningful way.
I'm still pissed about the Charlie Chaplin mustache being ruined.
I had a misguided but well meaning friend who tried to reclaim it by putting a sticker on her bass. It was the inverted form to what the nazis used, and had some extra elements to it which should have differentiated it enough to know it was meant as a peace symbol... it was not enough. I don't think a single person that saw that sticker DIDN'T think it was a hate symbol.
There certainly have been attempts to reclaim it, but it's very difficult for obvious reasons.
