For everything else, like Windows, Office, Teams ,etc. That's easy.
But, every single business I worked at in the past 5+ years have been on Either MS Azure Cloud or AWS. Replacing cloud infra services is going to be very difficult. No other business has the level of sophistication these companies have. This could be a really big challenge.
Yes we could go back to on-prem hosting, but that means increased costs of all kinds. And we all know how much hardware costs these days.
Sure but most probably don't need sophisticated services, and there are alternatives
I'm not talking about individuals or mom and pop shops. I'm talking major banks in Canada, big corporations, etc. They need stuff like Data Factory, DataBricks, Functionapps, Logicapps, solid redundancy across multiple regions, etc.
I tried to go back to on prem several years ago. The DC got bought up by IBM, service went to shit, and I was forced to migrate out of there, either to another of the IBM's DCs or elsewhere. Waiting weeks for new disks to be ordered every time we started getting close to storage capacity for the DB isn't a great experience either.
There used to be Linode, but I think somebody bought them more recently.
Owned by Akami now for 4 years, I think.
I've several small linodes and have been using the platform since 2018 or so. No difference seen so far in the linode plans or features I'm using with Akami, except for more in-depth monitoring available (for a price).
