How is linux on the Apple iMac 27” Retina 5K (2017) (piefed.social)

I came across an Apple iMac Retina 5K 27-inch (2017) for a really good price, how well does linux work?
Specs:

4.2GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
Upgraded to 64GB DDR4 RAM
Radeon Pro 580 8GB Graphics
27” Retina 5K Display

I could only find a single reddit thread about an iMac 2017. Everything works except internal sound.

Do try to install Linux and report back here and upload your results to linux-hardware.org They already have results for some iMac models and most seem to work quite well.
