They also capture your car’s make, model, color, and identifying features such as dents, roof racks, and bumper stickers, often turning these into searchable data points. These cameras collect data on millions of vehicles—regardless of whether the driver is suspected of a crime. While these systems can be useful for tracking stolen cars or wanted individuals, they are mostly used to track the movements of innocent people.

This is the thing that I don't get about the legality of this shit. If I set up a camera aimed at my neighbor's driveway and intentionally logged every coming and going of he, his wife, his kids... I could justiably be charged with stalking. But so long as I set up a network of cameras and track my neighbor's every whereabouts with this network and sell access to this data to anyone interested... that's not stalking. That's just good American business.
That is without the added layer of law enforcement involvement, tax dollar support, and absolutely no public say in the matters, etc.
