How to stop being overly dependent on AI
(lemmy.world)
"We did it, Patrick! We made a technological breakthrough!"
A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.
AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.
You have to go cold turkey. Delete the apps and bookmarks, delete your account. Do things manually even if it's painful. Accept that sometimes you won't get everything you want right away.
Also: disable AI from all websites, such as Google/DuckDuckGo and YouTube. Don't know how to do this? What a perfect opportunity to practice old school Internet searching to find the answer!
I feel that too but sometimes I have tight deadlines, so I have to use AI. Luckily, I have started to double check the responses AI give to me and that gives me some satisfaction that I am getting my facts right.
You don't have to use AI. You are making that choice. It's on you. Deadlines have always existed.
Sorry for parroting your reply. For some reason it didn't load when I first opened this thread.
Everyone who went through this before the llms were available also had tight deadlines. Don't give yourself excuses. You can do the work without them.
