As I'm sure most people would, I almost just hit Checkout but happened to see the text below. I am also sure I would have caught/removed it from the check-out page but maybe not. I did complete my order without 'package protection' but am sending an email and probably won't order again unless their response is acceptable.

Edit: I'll probably send the email after I get shipping confirmation :)

If you think it's almost criminal why proceed with the order?

They're basically outright saying "we poorly package our products and pass that cost onto you". If something they send breaks in transit that's their fault or something they need to figure out with the shipping company. It should at least be refunded if not resent for free.

I on occasion get fragile things from craft stores and online sellers and these individuals and small companies manage to send these things just fine without charging me for the convenience of having it arrive in one piece. I don't know why this company is getting away with this.

As I said in another comment, I already have an email to send them once I get tracking confirmation (just in case they're petty enough to take some action). But I want them to know the email is from an actual customer not an internet troll.

I've ordered from them a number of times, we like their product, the image above is new, I am 100 % sending them the email

And if they respond appropriately I'll remain a customer, if they keep it as is and/or do not respond, they will be dead to me.

Benefit of the doubt here a bit, companies sometimes do dumb things where not everyone or the right someone is aware.

Sending them mail is equivalent to talking to a brick wall.

Well, if that turns out to be the case, the relationship between us will end. If the world isn't quite as terrible as you assume maybe it will ? I have hope they will see/read it. I will include this thread as well.
