Quick story. My wife and I were at a petting zoo waiting in line to go pet the animals. After the group in front cleared out a bit they opened the gate for the next group to go. Well, we are child free and the gate person just assumed the kid behind us was ours. They let the kid run in with us and closed the gate on the kids actual parents. It took them a minute to realize oh I closed that too early and those 2 adults have no kid.

We enjoyed our time because we like animals. A lot of kids do share our passion for animals so I kinda get what you are saying.
