Unfortunately America has its claws firmly into Africa already. There are countries there that receive emergency food donations, whilst simultaneously producing way more than is needed to feed their population. The problem is, all that food is grown on foreign owned farms. Rich folk who bought the land, brought in the tools, hired the people to work it and protect it. Even bring in the genetically engineered seeds we enjoy in the west and herbicides and pesticides to keep it all producing at top levels. All of the food grown is put onto ships and exported away from hungry mouths. At the same time local farmers have a hard time, because the free food donations cut into their margins. And it's much easier for them to go work at the foreign farms which pay more and are a steady reliable source of income. I don't know how to fix that, it's a cluster fuck.

To be fair it isn't just America that has done this, Gulf states, China and other western countries share the blame. But America is by far the biggest player in this whole scheme. And America doesn't even grow food there most of the time, it's all wood, palm oil, rubber, biofuel etc. But the point still stands all those farms could be producing foods.
