Now, House has different theme songs depending on where it was originally broadcast. I watched first run in the US and enjoyed Teardrop (and Massive Attack are awesome, them and Portishead, with that triphop sound), and then my wife and I threw an episode on a decade later and it had some weird knockoff tune instead of Teardrop.

I love the song and got bored of the house intro because it doesn't have the vocal melody which is the most important and best part of the song.

Sorry! I knew the song was Teardrop by Massive Attack. (It was also used in the first season of Prison Break, when they start to execute their plan.) And I do like the song... it's just not for me. I mean it's a nice song, but the way it's made, it's not the kind of thing I like. So it's nice to hear every now and then, but mostly because that bass heavy beat reminds me of those two shows. The singing is beautiful — it really is a good song — but it seems like it's mixed wrong. It's mixed correctly for what it is, but what it is isn't something my ears are used to appreciating.
