In this case the person went through the effort to make an image macro/meme, which still had a misspelling in it. Why would you go through all that effort without double checking the spelling? It reeks of laziness.
The person I was replying to just said "woooosh" and then clarified that I was definitely missing a joke. They've since disappeared (probably because they realized they were wrong) but they were not engaging in the banter you describe; they were wrongly asserting that the spelling was intentional and that I missed the joke. The original poster of the meme then clarified that it was indeed a mistake.
I've been on the internet for over 30 years and conversations like this have been occurring since before my time here. I'm still having fun; if you can't have fun maybe you should log off for a bit.
