Local Pride "heartbroken" after trans woman assaulted in suspected hate crime (www.scenemag.co.uk)

Police are investigating an assault in Somerset as a suspected transphobic hate crime after a woman was allegedly targeted with anti-trans abuse before being attacked.

The incident happened in Cavalier Way, Wincanton, at around 9.15pm on 29 August. Avon and Somerset Police said the victim was walking along the street when she was approached by a group of four teenage boys who began making transphobic comments towards her.

According to police, the woman challenged the remarks before two members of the group allegedly assaulted her, striking her in the face and kicking her in the ribs.

Not even Europe is safe. There was an assault at a pride event in Germany slightly over a month ago.
