the reason our education system is so awful is our expectations of children are so low. Americans have bought into this narrative that children are ultra fragile and well that's what we have made them. it's not the teacher's job to raise children, it's the parents. the teachers job is to teach them.

other countries don't treat their children this way, and shocker, their children are far more resilient and self-reliant. we teach our children to be helpless, and we end up with helpless adults who never mature. maturity is learning from your mistakes, not feeling forever defined by them.

the original comment was a dumbass being a dumbass and being butt-hurt over his own stupidity. it's all bullshit anyway, nobody who actually reads don Quixote reads it in two days. it's a 1000 page dense novel. maybe you OP read Harry Potter 5, which is also 1000 pages, but it is so shallow you can read the whole thing in like 3-5 hours.
