A stretch of road that can be handled by Lane Assist. /sarc

TIL lane assist does not turn

Some ping pong you between the lanes, although the one I'm thinking of disables itself after a few ping pongs I'm assuming to prevent this exact thing. I don't know about all manufacturers and makes. There's a lot of different implementations.

Yeah VAG lane assist will aggressively try to keep you in lane, including when it gets confused by lines going at odd angles at a junction or sometimes midway round a corner. Nothing quite like having the steering wheel unexpectedly jerked the wrong direction mid turn to scare the shit out of you on a leisurely cruise. First thing I switch off when I start the car.

And it turns back on the next start right? Honestly I find that in itself so presumtuous

It does, but in fairness I think there's an EU reg requiring this to happen (I'm assuming the UK is the same or they just don't differentiate) it wouldn't be so bad if there was some kind of beepy lane assist I could switch to that would still satisfy the regulations would be fine.

They've also got a super aggressive reversing auto-brake if the car detects a pedestrian in range while you're reversing. I swear I think I've crashed into something every time it triggers, which is mostly while I'm slowly reversing towards my driveway and it detects my gate post.
