I think you confuse that with kåldolmar, which has that origin. Meatballs were quite a staple in most Northern European countries for centuries before any of that. Of course Sweden didn't invent meatballs either, they just popularised them outside of Europe via Ikea.

The more you know! Seems like the theory of both Kåldolmar and Köttbullar being Ottoman-inspired is disputed.
