From your good friends at Microsoft, known for such advancements as laying off most of our game developers, raising the cost of consoles and providing cloud services for the Israeli military comes the next big step for videogames Introducing vibe gaming

What if, instead of controlling every move your game character made, you could tell them what you wanted and watch them live, act, and connect with others on their own in the changing game world? (...)

In VEGA, every character begins with a soul shaped by its player. A soul is open-ended guidance about who the character is and how it might live in the world. (...)

Vibe gaming brings autonomous living, player influence, and character collaboration into the same shared experience.

Yes let's take something like player control which is fast, efficient and direct and see how we can make it inefficient, convoluted, imprecise and laggy. I can somewhat understand if they use it for NPCs but what is the point here other than making a worse player experience?

Because the goal isn't to create a game, it's to make an interactive movie or at best a "passive game". You give commands and then you watch your character try and do them. To give them some credit it's not the worst idea in the world, it's miles better than the game world shit Google tried to do. But knowing Microslop they'll fuck up the implementation in a spectacular fashion.

Maybe the goal is to train better NPCs, and they're hoping it's enough of a novelty that real players will do that training for them?
