The sold out neoliberals in the EU Commission would never go against the people that give them millionaire non-executive board memberships when they retire by doing anything in any way form or shape against hardcore neoliberal economics.

This shit is just neoliberal style talkie-talkie and even then it's in the service of incredibly uncompetitive corporate behemoths which have spent the last 2 decades with enshittification and anti-social products (SUVs are 70% more likely to killl a pedestrian in a collision) instead of innovation - the "Constructive Destruction" of a Free Market is only for the plebes.

These crooks and the fatcats who hold their strings deserve any shit they reap from the seeds they've been sowing for at least 2 decades - certainly the rest of us (just look at enshittification and the recent PISA results) are already suffering from their decades of via the EU pushing EU nations more and more towards a variant of hardcore neoliberalism that favors ever less competitive and innovative large companies with captured markets or in cartels.
