The sad thing is that $5000 is seen as a life-changing amount of money for a lot of people in "the richest country on earth".
Is seen? Not even. Just is. It IS a life-changing amount of money for a lot of people.
Most places want three months rent up front before you can move in.
$1,500.00 is a bit below average for a studio/one bedroom in the USA today.
Or a student could buy a beater car/motorcycle to let them commute.
Or a mobility scooter for a homebound person.
Or insulin for a diabetic
