Don’t Let Anyone Take Away Your Big Box of Cables - Jim Nielsen’s Blog
(blog.jim-nielsen.com)
This is a most excellent place for technology news and articles.
I was about to throw away all my S-Video connectors this week.
Then all this TV-Spying debacle started getting exposed, and I looked at my old VHS and remembered why I kept the cable.
Giving me memories of not having enough hard drive space and using s-video and audio cables to record downloaded episodes of Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Sealab 2021 to tape from my computer so I could have more space to download more stuff.
To tape? That's dedication.
Do you have any idea how expensive 40gb was in 2000?
Aqua Teen started airing in 2001 and I was grabbing the first season as it aired.
I couldn't afford any other solution. I was lucky to afford a video card with s-video out.
I had good luck using s video and an n64 to mostly descramble cable back in the day.
Don't do it, you'll need that shit
