Promoting it with...a Twitch stream.
You have to meet your audience where they are at. Twitch makes a lot of sense and has a lot of reach.
You can reach your audience from a variety of channels. At least one of them should be free. This should be seeringly obvious to an org like EFF.
Well that website links to livestream.eff.org, and that page says the stream will be "simulcast", i.e. mirrored, to Twitch and Youtube. So the main channel is indeed free.
YouTube is not any more free than Twitch...?
Oh damn. I meant their website, but I didn't notice they just embed a Twitch stream on their website, thought it was a self-hosted stream. Never mind me.
A doctor must go where the sick people are.

You cannot advertise the fediverse to people already on the fediverse. They are already using it.
You need to advertise to people who are on things like twitch, Facebook, X etc.
This stream is not for you, thus it is twitch specific.
So people on the Fediverse shouldn't be allowed to participate?

This all started because you implied that Twitch was a bad platform for promoting the Feddiverse without giving a reason.
So, yeah, what is your reason for not thinking Twitch is a good platform to use to promote the Feddiverse?
That yours is not the only voice that matters. That other people are allowed to convey ideas and the world isnt just waiting with baited breath for you to bless us with yours.

I'd say it holds up even more. All sick people go to hospitals and that's where we employs doctors. EFF's target audience^[1]^ are using Twitch so they go there.

Yes, once again, that's why this analogy does not make sense. The EFF is not running a hospital, they're running a livestream, which can happen in any of a dozen different places simultaneously.
And all their patients are on twitch.
They aren't.
