I'm out dashing rn and I have no idea what this person is saying

I think its a satire on AI company people saying we're close to a technological singularity, given the "we're asking for a pause" is a phrase commonly associated with that

They're likely saying that data collection/analysis on customer's eating habits is getting to the point that they can almost predict when you'll be hungry, and the next step is to deliver food to you before you even order it.

If you order a burrito at 11:30 every day, their goal is to have a burrito delivered to your door at 11:30 every day, without you even ordering it.

Which honestly, is kind of terrifying. I don't want a company knowing my habits so well that they predict what I want and then order it without my consent.

About 15 years ago when I was at my most depressed and least healthy, I used to get 3 pizzas every weekend (Saturday dinner, Sunday lunch, Sunday dinner) because that worked out as the cheapest deal. One week I only got a single pizza and the delivery guy commented on it, just something small like "Oh only one today?" I never got Dominos again.

Same thing happened to me… was having takeout Indian curry every day; skipped one day and they asked me why. Made it feel really weird. Like, did I sign up for a responsibility or contract to get curry every day?

LMAO that's diabolical

[-] OwOarchist@pawb.social 3 points 1 week ago

And are they going to be charging you for it without your consent?

What happens when you're taking a vacation for a week? You'll come home to find 7 cold, decomposing burritos on your doorstep and $300 deducted from your bank account.

I saw it a second time and think that they're forecasting your decision, so they deliver the burrito before you realize that you want one.
