Are people still fans of corporations these days?

I remember a guy i worked with who would say at least 10 times a day: if you don't have an iphone, you don't have an iphone. That was tge commercial at the time. It was so odd.

I just popped in to say IMAGINE being a fan of a publicly traded company. They'd stomp your balls and punch your tits for an extra dime if they could. Any company with more than one shareholder is not your fucking friend.

Your dads construction company? Fine. Anything that has more than one shareholder? Probably would kill you and cover it up if it cost less than it gained them.

a fan of billionaire owned sports team, i never understood that at all.

i play a variety of sports but don't watch any, aside from occasionally cheering friends competing in local events

the only thing a public company hates more than their own customers are they people they employ

Small businesses are often worse, since there's less oversight, more willingness to gamble on 'risks', a need for higher margins to stay afloat and generally fewer different interests at stake. The issue is private ownership in itself, not how that private ownership is structured.

Knowing some small local business owners I’d say that the problem is that the business reflects the owner’s personality - so you can have a place that respects both its customers and employees or a shithole owned by person too high up their own arse, which is often the case with IT firms.

Made a mistake of working at one, with owners boasting “we were the first ones to do X thing in our market”, whilst the office was a musty basement in middle of nowhere.

Nowadays if I know that certain business is owned by person or group of people I don’t like (be that due to their personal values or affiliations with certain politicians or whatever) I make sure to avoid supporting that business and I spread the message to friends and colleagues.

Hang on, that’s really cheap for S&M. Or so I’m told. By other people.
