"So whatever outrageous price they were charging wasn't high enough to truly reflect market conditions," a free market stan might say. Might even have a point.
Or one might say "the catastrophic war in the middle east, the one waged specifically to drive down global supply to make the pillaging of Venezuela even more profitable, shows no sign of stopping any time soon so if oil companies hold on to their current inventory they might be able to profit from it even more in a few weeks / months as the crisis deepens".
