It’s pretty insane. Need to be prepared for any kind of weather. We had a 121F swing this year in Minneapolis. It was -21F on January 23, 2026, and 100F on July 27, 2026.

The largest recorded temperature change in one place over a 24-hour period occurred on January 15, 1972 in Loma, Montana, when the temperature rose from −54 to 49 °F (−47.8 to 9.4 °C).

Just a wild place

Can confirm. Was in Belgrade MT one day in April where it went from -19F to 43F over the day, and it wasn't abnormal at all.

That's not even uncommon. We get that pretty much every year. People think it's cold all year around. Nope. Not at all

It's noteworthy because the frequency and extremity are becoming more frequent and more extreme.

Oh yeah. For sure

That is absolutely ridiculous.

This is for strictly mildly interesting material. If it's too interesting, it doesn't belong. If it's not interesting, it doesn't belong.

This is obviously an objective criteria, so the mods are always right. Or maybe mildly right? Ahh.. what do we know?

Just post some stuff and don't spam.
