People use Brave even though Peter Thiel is one of its main investors. People use Brave even though it was created by Brendan Eich, a homophobe and Trump supporter

I had the sense that the general consensus in the inner tech circles is that Brave is bad and Firefox is good.

Its the outer ring of the tech circles still privvy to Brave.

Yeah but is it a reason not to do anything? Some people don't care, some are unaware. For the last ones we should keep pushing for making tech landscape a betted place for everyone

[-] SocialistVibes01@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 month ago

Nope, not everyone uses Brave

The vast majority of people don't know that or couldn't care less about it, who's behind it isn't even a thing worthy of thought for many. It's sad and sucks but it's the truth.

More interesting example: people use Firefox despite Google being main donator. I know it's more complicated, but yeah, Mozilla wouldn't survive otherwise.

Most people using Brave have no idea of those facts I'd bet.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.
