Ted Cruz, R-Texas, joined a rapidly growing cohort of lawmakers Wednesday expressing the need for more artificial intelligence restrictions in the wake of dire human extinction warnings from AI researchers—but said U.S. companies needed to be careful not to lose to China in the race to develop artificial intelligence.

If the apocalypse of humanity can be avoided by filling a couple of rockets with certain people, and... well, it doesn't really matter where they are launched. Why, don't we do that? Seems like the obvious trade to me.

It seems so weird to suggest that we (humanity) must do the thing that will destroy humanity. (Of course, it is just marketing BS to suggest the dangers are rogue AIs, and not the global warming disaster they are becoming a significant contributer to). But, if we take them at their word, they sure seem like cancer cells in a otherwise healthy body. Cells that would get removed immediately, without any need to kill the patient.
