Its because you're under stimulated. If you dont do anything, you're body desires movement

But I'm simultaneously restless and don't want to do anything!

This is me right now. There’s plenty of stuff I could/should be doing, but instead I’m trying to get Control working smoothly on an older laptop, while watching music videos.

That's where you're wrong: my ADHD and anxiety combo means that my brain is always overstimulated by constant worries and distractions even when it looks from the outside like I'm doing nothing

Under stimulated by external stimuli that can keep internal processes occupied/satisfied. That lack of stimulation allows those internal processes, which crave stimulation, to begin stimulating themselves subconsciously which it begins to run rampant, as internal imagination has no bounds or limitations to prevent illogical feedback loops.

They aren't wrong.

Learning how to live with that helps more than victimizing yourself

I know. That's why I've been working on exactly that ever since I first got diagnosed with ADHD over two decades ago.

Just because I'm better at coping than I used to be doesn't mean that I don't still have to use many of my daily spoons just to get to where neurotypicals start.
