I can't imagine living like this. You see a handful of sentences and because you're too stupid to imagine someone actually writing it without AI, it must have been an LLM.
What if I told you this exact literary structure of "x not y" has been used since the advent of speech? And that pre-LLMs, you would not have batted an eye at this.
I don't get exercised about em-dashes, but this is two overlapping AI ticks and it feels unnatural, forced. That's three strikes.
Maybe you just don't have a very good eye for writing and so can't imagine others might.
AI learned to write like that from somewhere, remember that.
As someone who still stubbornly uses the em-dash, I am well aware of that!
That said, it's a feat of style-blindedness not to see that thereś a default writing style that is particular to LLMs, and it behooves readers to be able to recognize it (to avoid wasting their time reading slop), and writers to avoid it, depending on context, (to avoid being accused of writing slop).
