Advice for buying bed/mattress (lemmy.world)

I desperatey need to buy a new proper bed. Here are my initial thoughts/stats:

have sleep apnea so I feel like it should be adjustable

side-sleeper 99% of the time

no idea about how firm I like or want

Wonder if it would be best to buy in-store so I can actually try it out, I'm having a hard time stomaching the idea of buying something online with zero idea of what it actually ends up like, not that anything wouldnt be better at this point than my current situation

I don't know if this advice still applies these days but I have been told to avoid the brands that start with a "see" sound, like sealy or serta.

I have been happy with rubber mattresses. They have varying firmness sheets that comprise of the matress.

If you go in store be sure to lay on a potential mattress for an hour. Just plan to hang out on it.
