Anything Fortnine is worth a watch.
However, taking a motorcycle with such limited range and only L2-charging is just asking for pain.
Maybe for people who don't actually ride motorcycles, but his smug style and frequent stupid hot takes have him seen as quite the wanker by motorcycle riders.
I thought I saw him plugging into a ccs charger. Does the bike not have fast charging?
CCS1 for L2. None of Can-Am models have CCS2 Or NACS for DC Fast Charging. Zero just announced they'll be doing L3 in 2027. Unless they switch batteries, the range will likely drop. Honda has the WN7 with L3, but it only has 140km of range and caps the charge speed so you still have to wait 30 min to get to 80%.
Thing is, though, if out in the way back roads, it's unlikely you'll find a working L2, let alone an L3 charger. Ryan's going on routes where there are 1, maybe 2 dodgy L2 chargers, and that bike doesn't have much range to start with. Every 1-2 hours, he has to stop and charge for another 1-2 hours. That's not so bad if out for a fun day-trip. But if you choose routes where there aren't too many fueling options, you're just amping up range anxiety.
Ryan will be fine because he has a chase truck with his video guy. Everyone else will take away that EV bikes are best to be avoided and eventually, they'll stop making them.
Ryan F9 is entertainment. I'm not even sure what he is trying to do, he works for Fortnine, a motorcycle gear reseller, and he rides around in a thin shirt. He just makes videos for clickbait. You missed the time his bike fully charged even before he could finish a meal, and he went riding into the BC interior, which is sparsely populated.
Zero, Livewire, Can Am sales worldwide combined are a fraction of India's Ultraviolette, who makes a bike with 300km range for $8000, DC fast charging.
Can Am bike is already dead, being dumped at cost, because the whole point was to cash in on Federal and Provincial EV grants, not actually make something good. Classic Quebec industry. Harley Davidson LiveWire has also been pissing money for years because they are just as shit as their ICE bikes. They sold 300 worldwide in 2025.
When China gets serious about EMotorcycles, they will be competitive. But Ultraviolette is expanding production to target 500,000 bikes a year.
So yes, electric bikes are currently terrible, because of mostly North American efforts, but they won't be for long. No, the current shitheads who ride bikes to make noise won't buy them, but who cares about those assholes. In Asia, motorcycles are cheap commuting and they care about fuel costs and they sell MILLIONS a year.
Motorcycles only need a 10Kwhr pack, which is now $850 and dropping, so the point where electric bikes are cheaper than ICE is already upon us.
Huge fan of what Ultraviolette is doing. Also big fan of the Gogoro battery-swap model. Really wish there would be a point where they could put them together and do away with charge wait times.
None of these bikes are designed for long-distance touring. So, yeah, not sure what Ryan's point is with this trip.
it only has a 9 kwhr battery. But I doubt CanAm will be making these bikes much longer.
For real. I was thinking it does seem like a good commuter and if you got charging stations around you like it seems he does then a weekend warrior type trip could be fun too!
It depends on your priorities. If you just want to get to your destination, then a motorcycle with more range is ideal.
If you're in no hurry and want an adventure, this looks like a pretty good idea.
