As a comparison: The cheapest diesel available in Finland right now on September the 14th is 2.222 € per litre. That translates to 9.71 USD per gallon. The most expensive available today is 2.611 €/l, translating to 11.41 $/gallon
So you telling me the US will start using metric because it'll be cheaper than replacing/upgrading every pump to display another digit...
I remember when they started selling gasoline by the 1/2 gallon - because the price went over $1.00/gal and the pumps didn't have a dollar position to program into them. I said then they should go up to at least two dollar digits per gallon, but no one listened to me - just like today.
Gosh I must be old.
